“I remember hearing of all the Minnesota Legends. From up north on the Iron Range, to Lake City, to the early days of Hamline basketball, and the U (University of Minnesota). This was the beginning of basketball in our state, and we we’re right there in the evolution. So many historical locations, and venues. Most are not there anymore, but some are. And the significance of these to the communities, and the people that lived there are invaluable. They shaped generations and generations of basketball players that are still involved today.”

Everyone has a HOOPS story!

“All the years of sports growing up were amazing. As kids, we could play any sport we wanted. As I got older, I realized that my body wasn’t able to move how it used to. I played pick-up ball, and eventually that got to be too much for my body too. So now I play in these events, and I can compete and have an amazing time, and not have to recover for the next two days. I love to shot hoops, and that is what I love the most. I can focus on making shots and having fun!”

-Fares (39) Red Wing, MN

“I was raised in the driveway. That is how i have success now. These events are awesome! I never played on Varsity or anything like that. I could always shoot baskets though. I spent hours and hours in the driveway. I would make some crazy shots! It was always something I enjoyed doing at home. I’d grab a ball, and go outside and shoot hoops.”

-Justin (43) Mankato, MN

“Marks the Shot Hoops events are something I look forward to. Events motivate me to stay active and healthy, so I can continue to play. I enjoy the social interaction of meeting other members and talking basketball with them. It is defiantly something I want to remain a part of for a long time.”
